The bassist of the cult band The Monkees, Peter Tork, is dead. He was 77 years old. This has been announced by friends, family and colleagues on Facebook. Ten years ago, Tork had been diagnosed with a rare form of tongue cancer.
The Monkees were actually founded in 1965 as a boy band for a television show. The band members Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork but soon became teen idols. Her most famous hits include “I’m a Believer”, “Last Train to Clarksville” and “Daydream Believer”. According to a Washington Post report, in 1967 they sold twice as many albums as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones in common.
